Data Storage

Local Storage

The extension stores the following data locally in your browser:

• Cached Ingredient Data: Ingredient safety information is cached locally to improve performance and reduce API calls. This cache helps the extension respond faster when analyzing products.
• User Preferences: Any settings or preferences you configure in the extension (such as sensitivity lists) are stored locally in your browser.

All local storage is contained within your browser and is never transmitted to our servers or third parties.

Server Storage

Ingredient names are sent to our Supabase database for analysis, but:

• No user identifiers are associated with these queries
• We do not store ingredient queries with any personal information
• No personal data is stored on our servers

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties.

Ingredient names are only sent to our Supabase database for safety analysis. We do not share data with advertisers, marketers, or any other third parties.

We use Supabase (supabase.co) to host our ingredient safety database. When you use the extension:

• Ingredient names are sent to Supabase via secure HTTPS connections

Browser Permissions

Clean Beauty Compass requires the following browser permissions to function:

• activeTab: To analyze product pages you are currently viewing
• scripting: To extract ingredient information from product pages
• tabs: To detect when you navigate to product pages on supported retailers
• storage: To cache ingredient database information locally for performance
• Host permissions: To access product pages on Amazon, Sephora, Target, and our Supabase database

These permissions are used exclusively for the extension's core functionality and are not used to access any other data or websites.

Data Security

We take data security seriously:

• All data transmission uses secure HTTPS connections
• No personal information is collected or stored
• Local storage is contained within your browser
• We follow industry best practices for data security

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Uninstall the Extension: You can remove the extension at any time through your browser's extension management settings
